Philippines’ Cosplay Queen Alodia Gosiengfiao trends on Yahoo

A few days ago I did a post about Cosplay goddesses Alodia and Ashley Gosiengfiao as endorsers of Wheatgrass Easy Pha-max. I was surprised to get more than 300 likes for that post. I remember the time when Mike Abundo said: "If you blog Alodia, expect a spike on traffic"

Now it's proven. No wonder why a lot of companies get her as endorser, it's because she really is that influential. I wonder how much TF she gets for her endorsements? Whatever the price, I know she deserves it.

And because of that, Philippines’ Cosplay Queen Alodia Gosiengfiao trends on Yahoo. Each week, Yahoo! search editors analyze online queries to see the themes and trends which bubbled to the surface.

Last week (23-29 May) the web was buzzing with pop culture icons including Cosplay Queen, Indie Prince and Primetime Queen.

Here's the complete list:

Philippines’ “Cosplay Queen,” “Indie Prince,” and the Kapuso Network’s “Primetime Queen” are among last week’s top 10 Pinoy pop culture royals trending on Yahoo!

Alodia Gosiengfiao: The 23 year old “Cosplay Queen” tops this week’s list after she and her sister Ashley featured in the widely publicized launch of Easy Pha-max Wheatgrass ready-to-drink health beverage TVC. Alodia’s affair with cosplay – short for costume play or dressing up as a fictional character, started when she was 15, consequently opening up opportunities for her in the entertainment world. The Animax VJ who hosts ABS-CBN’s prank show Laugh Out Loud with Luis Manzano was signed up earlier this month as the brand ambassador by Globe Telecom for its mobile Internet service.

Dennis Trillo: In the June 2011 issue of YES! Magazine, Jennylyn Mercado detailed her reasons for breaking up with actor Dennis Trillo. The Kapuso actress stated how a small argument turned into a huge fight that ended the relationship, eventually hurting her. Netizens searched for Dennis’ version of the issue but he refused to comment instead stating, “The truth is, I really don’t want to talk about it because it’s done and over with.”

Bagyong Chedeng: Tropical Storm Chedeng entered Philippines on the morning of May 23. The typhoon which left four people dead and P14 million in damages, reminded people of the destruction that Typhoon Ondoy had brought in 2009. Chedeng also brought to light PAGASA’s (Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration) conflicting weather forecasts with Japan Meteorological Agency’s weather predictions.

Sam Pinto: The 21-year-old actress and model momentarily rose to the top spot when she overtook Marian Rivera and Angel Locsin in the last week’s unofficial results of FHM Philippines’ 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2011. The Captain Barbell actress, who was also recently chosen as an endorser for San Miguel Light Beer and Fitrum dietary supplement, has since climbed back to the third place.

Coco Martin:

Earlier this month, Philippines’ “Indie Prince” received the Gawad Urian’s Actor of the Decade Award for 2000 to 2009 along with actresses Gina Pareño and Cherry Pie Picache. Coco Martin, born as Rodel Nacianceno, received the honor for his outstanding work in films including Jay, Tambolista, Daybreak, Kinatay, and Noy from the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (the Filipino Film Critics).

American Idol:

Seventeen-year old country crooner Scotty McCreery became the new American Idol after defeating the judges’ choice for the title Lauren Alaina. Scotty performed alongside Tim McGraw and sang a duet, Live Like You're Dying. "It felt like a dream," Scotty said about his victory.

Jiro Manio:

een actor Jiro Manio, The former FAMAS and Urian best actor award winner for his role in Magnifico, has reportedly volunteered to undergo rehabilitation for drug abuse. He was part of ABS-CBN network’s roster of talents and was pulled out off the television series Tayong Dalawa for "unprofessional and irresponsible behavior”. According to a PEP report, Jiro’s father assured his fans that the 19-year old actor “is committed to becoming a better person”.

Marian Rivera:

GMA Network’s controversial star returns to primetime as she plays the title role of warrior princess Amaya, an epic series set in the Central Visayas in the 1500s. Actors Sid Lucero and model-turned-actor Mikael Daez, who was also trending in Yahoo! search last week for an alleged photo scandal, join her in the cast. The mestiza actress is often criticized for her imperfect English and alleged snobbish behavior.

NBA: In the 2011 NBA playoffs last week, Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat emerged as the contenders in the finals. Miami Heat’s entry in the NBA Finals was particularly inspirational to the Filipinos because of the team’s head coach Erik Spoelstra, who is Filipino-American. Erik’s mother Elisa, is from San Pablo, Laguna. Miami Heat beat Mavericks 92-84.

Gandang Gabi Vice:

Comedian Vice Ganda, who is Jose Marie Viceral in real life, now has his own TV show. Gandang Gabi Vice, a combination of comedy, television sitcom and variety show, started airing on ABS-CBN from May 22, with Bea Alonzo, Kim Chiu, and Angeline Quinto as guests. For its second episode, the show featured Piolo Pascual, Cristine Reyes, and Gerald Anderson.
