7 steps to maximum protection against day and night dengue-lamok attacks

Now that we’ve discovered that dengue is a threat during the day and at night as well, it’s very clear that our anti-dengue protection measures should be proven effective against both day-biting and night-biting dengue lamok. There is still no vaccine yet against dengue and no specific medication against a dengue infection. So the best way to protect ourselves, our children and other loved ones is to prevent an infection in the first place.

Below are some tips on how you can maximize your defenses against attacks from dengue lamok:

1. Keep your household and your surroundings clean. Mosquitoes tend to hide among discarded household items and other discarded materials like old newspapers, old shoes, etc. Get rid of the junk that has accumulated in the home and make sure the house is free from clutter.

2. Get rid of mosquito breeding places inside and around your home.

Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water—whether this water is “clean” or found in puddles and clogged up canals and sewers. Be extra vigilant during the rainy season in getting rid of stagnant water in and around your house. Throw out stagnant water that accumulates in old tires, discarded containers like cans and bottles, and other items that may hold stagnant water for a long time. Containers used to store reserve water supply must be covered.

3. Place protective screens on doors and windows. Screens are very effective in keeping dengue lamok out of your house. Periodically check your screens for any holes or tears.

4. Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants. It is advisable to wear clothing that cover exposed arms and legs whenever possible for added protection.

5. Use mosquito netting. Sleeping inside mosquito nets at night also provides effective barrier protection against dengue lamok.

6. Use an ovitrap. An ovitrap is a simple, low-cost device that kills mosquito larvae. There are resources on the Internet where you can learn how to make your own ovitrap or contact the Department of Health or DOST (Department of Science and Technology) on how to make or purchase an ovitrap.

7. Regularly use an insect repellent lotion. A single bit of an infected mosquito can be fatal. For maximum protection, an insect repellent lotion provides an added layer of protection that other measures cannot. For example, once we leave our house, we also leave behind our protective screens. We have no control over the cleanliness of environments that are away from our immediate residence. Many places outdoors provide breeding spots for mosquitoes. We cannot walk around wearing a mosquito net.

In contrast, we can conveniently apply an insect repellent lotion anytime that we need to do so. An insect repellent lotion keeps mosquitoes away and prevents them from transmitting disease to us through their bites.

Insect repellent lotions work well both indoors and outdoors. Just remember to follow label instructions on how much to apply and when to re-apply the lotion. Among the insect repellent lotions in the market, only Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion has been scientifically proven to be effective against both daybiting and night-biting mosquitoes. It has a long-lasting formulation that keeps you and your loved ones protected for up to 10 hours, so you don’t have to worry about mosquito bites while your kids are in school during the day or sleeping in bed at night.

Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion is also completely kid-friendly as it is hypoallergenic and gentle on the skin. It smells great too. Your child can use it safely, every day. And because it’s made by Green Cross, it also provides the same superior antibacterial protection that the Green Cross brand has always been known for.

Time to level up your protection with new Green Cross Insect Repellent Lotion. At last! Proven day and night dengue lamok defense.
