Sports Excellence Centers

Rexona launches Sports Excellence Centers

It takes more than a dream to be an athlete. You have to find your passion, be determined, stay focused, train hard, study your sport to understand all the strategies and rules of your game, and keep your body in tip-top shape. Internationally renowned athletes like Flash Elorde, Lydia de Vega, Bea Lucero, Akiko Thompson, and Manny Pacquiao devoted a lot of hard work, perseverance, and dedication to their sport that led them to achieve their own dreams of being the best in their game.

Rexona, the #1 deodorant in the country and the world, launches its advocacy to inspire Filipinos to be outstanding individuals when it comes to sports. Together with the launch of its latest variant, Rexona Sport Defence, it held the 1st Rexona Run last August 2010. In coordination with RunRio Productions and SM, the Rexona Run 2010 was heralded as an astounding success because of the over all coordination, medical attention, security detail it provided to its 9000 participants. It was also the first run that featured the use of an iPad for registration, Dtag, and a new running route in SM Mall of Asia.
The Rexona Run 2010 was held as a fund-raising marathon, which benefitted the establishment of the Centers of Excellence in Sports in different public schools in Manila, which were recently turned over to the different beneficiaries last January 20, 2011 at Raja Soliman Science and Technology High School. Rexona donated a complete set of sports equipment needed in each center as well as completely refurbished the areas where it was built.

“Sports excellence is an advocacy that Rexona has supported over the years” said Anne Remulla, Rexona Brand Manager, Unilever Philippines. “The Rexona Sports Center for Excellence is envisioned to be a hub where students and athletes from different schools can learn and train in a particular sport. We hope that they will be able to fulfill their dreams here of becoming the next world class athletes of tomorrow.” Schools that will have the Rexona Center of Excellence in Sports are: A. Villegas High School for softball, J. Abad National High School for Gymnastics, Rajah Soliman Science High School for Boxing, A. Maceda Integrated School for Arnis, and C.P. Garcia High School for Archery.

The efforts do not stop here. Rexona continues to find ways to promote sports excellence in the hopes of inspiring young athletes to be the best they can be.
