A sustainable transport advocacy and climate policy

The Land Transporation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issues the country's first electric public utility jeepney franchise.

On February 8, 2012, the LTFRB (Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board)  issued the first electric public utility jeepney franchise to eJeepney Transport Corporation. Come March, the eJeepney fleet working the Legaspi Village and Salcedo Village loops will be charging a minimum fare for each ride.

Recently Senator Ralph Recto, author of the Alternative Fuel Incentives Bill, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay Jr. and transport groups drive for alternative PUVs encourages public to support Green Pasada.



In a presscon held last February 27 Red Constantino, director of Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities announced that "What we are launching is not the just first e-PUJ commercial franchise, but the rapidly growing community pushing for green solutions."

EJeepney Transport Corporation may be the first to hold the commercial franchise.

EJTC CEO Yuri Sarmiento who was also there said that "We want to have more green operators replicating the initiative all over the country."



Senator Ralph Recto, together with Secretary Lucille Sering of the Climate Change Commission, Red Constantino of Institute for Climate and Sustainable Cities, Yuri Sarmiento of EJeepney Transport Corporation, led the symbolic ride/drive  and other representatives from the office of Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay Jr, the LTFRB and other alternative public transport advocates.
