How to Cook Vegetarian Adobo

Adobo is one of the easiest ulam to cook for us Filipinos. It can be an Adobong Baboy or Manok. Now if you're going to cook a Vegetarian Adobo, all you need to replace is the pork or chicken. You will now use a vegetarian meat substitute - Tofu.

 

Vegetarian Adobo Ingredients:
2 blocks of Tofu
2/3 cup soy sauce
2/3 cup vinegar
10 cloves of garlic, crushed
Salt to taste
1 Onion bulb
1 Laurel leaf


Vegetarian Adobo Preparation:

  • Cut your Tofu into 2-inch cubes.

  • Add the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, cloves of garlic, black pepper, and laurel leaf.

  • Optional: You can marinate in Sprite or 7up

  • Bring to a medium boil for 15 minutes.

  • Cover and reduce heat to simmer for 30 minutes.

  • Stir once in a while to avoid burning the bottom.

  • Serve with rice.
