Being in love and its health benefits

One of the best feelings in the world is being in love. But did you know that aside from giving one that giddy, happy feeling, being in love also helps keep one healthy? There are various medically-proven health advantages that come with having a strong affection for someone special. MediCard, a leading health maintenance organization, celebrates the month of love by sharing with you the health benefits of being in love.

Reduces stress
Ever wonder why people who’ve been hit by Cupid’s arrow always have that grin on their face? That’s probably because when you’re love, your body produces lower levels of cortisol, a hormone that induces stress. That’s why those who are in love are most likely to be in the best mood – all smiles and laughs that makes them more optimistic and energized.

Helps maintain a healthy lifestyle
You will notice that having a loving partner inspires you look good. Women tend to stay longer in front of the mirror, fussing on their faces, skin and hair. Men, on the other hand, become more inspired to hit the gym and tone those muscles.   Plus, it’s a proven fact that people who are in love  are less likely to be depressed and rely on the bad habits of smoking or drinking which takes a toll on your health.

Lengthens life
A happy relationship lets you live a longer life. The feeling of “being loved” feeling also contributes in work of the body system. It increases your heart rate and enables a healthy circulation of the blood; the sense of touch that is handy in dealing with pain by the simple hugs and holding of hands.

This Valentine’s Day, don’t forget to say how much you love the people around you and make their heart skip a beat. You can also encourage them to start a healthy lifestyle by simply eating the right food, getting regular exercise and going to the doctor for regular check up.

Sandra Seifert Posed Naked

Posing au naturel while holding an apple next to the caption "Our Bodies Are Temples. Go Vegetarian," environmentalist and international fashion model Sandra Seifert appears in a brand-new ad for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia. Her point? That the best decision anyone can make is to choose a plant-based diet, which is better for the Earth, animals, and human health. The campaign – which Seifert conceptualized – follows her 30th birthday on February 1 and was inspired by a verse in the bible, "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own" [1 Corinthians 6:19].

Vegetarianism is the practice of abstaining from the consumption of meat – red meat, poultry, seafood and the flesh of any other animal; it may also include abstention from by-products of animal slaughter.(wikipedia)
"Killing animals for food is cruel, and it's also killing our planet," says Seifert, who has been vegetarian for more than half of her life. "With so many delicious meat-free foods available these days and so many compelling reasons not to eat meat—to improve your health, to help stop animal suffering, and to fight back against pollution and greenhouse-gas emissions—there's never been a better time to go vegetarian!" Seifert, a longtime vegetarian, was crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2009 and represented the country at the Miss Earth international pageant, where she was crowned Miss Earth Air (first runner-up). Apart from gracing the covers and pages of numerous magazines, she has also produced an environmental short film with the Miss Earth Foundation entitled 'Project Noel' which received the very first 'Loren Legarda Environment Award for Film' at the 59th FAMAS Awards in 2011. A United Nations report determined that the meat industry is "one of the … most significant contributors to the most serious environmental problems, at every scale from local to global" and recommends that the meat industry be "a major policy focus when dealing with problems of land degradation, climate change and air pollution, water storage and water pollution, and loss of biodiversity." In addition to causing the daily suffering of billions of animals raised and killed for food, eating meat and other animal products has been conclusively linked to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Also, vegetarians are, on average, fitter and trimmer than meat-eaters. The stunning ad was shot by top photographer Ken Go. Seifert's makeup was done by Magic by Anju Dargani, and her hair was styled by Nina's Touch.

My Entry for #GLOBEProjectWonderful2014

Christmas has just passed and we've all given or received gifts. Parties and events started to decrease.
My hope and spirit is still high and my smiles have not faded.
As we all go back to our respective daily routines, Our everyday lives encourages us to never stop the spirit of giving.
Now is our time to give it back.
So, if you could give back to the community, the country, to anyone within your reach, what is it that you'd like to give back? My answer - I would like to build a farm where I can give food to those in need.

Type of Farm: Rice, Crops, Herbs and Vegetables
Goal: To feed as many people as possible
Reason: Food is the most basic need of human Location: Cavite or Bulacan Unit: 100 hectares or more Timeline: Before Summer

Easycook peas, lentils, and beans

A Christmas party/cooking demo was held last December 21, 2013 at the Genting Club Culinary School in Resorts world courtesy of Ideal Macaroni and Spaghetti Factory Inc.. Thanks to Sir Marlon, he made effort to invite bloggers like us to also witness this very momentous event.

Chef Ojie demonstrating how to cook lentils

It was very well attended by the members of the press and media of different lifestyle beat.

Aside from the cooking demo, there were also games and surprises during the event. All of us went home very happy and full.

During the cooking presentation, recipes creatively using peas and lentils were demonstrated by Filipino master chef Ojie Reloj at a media event. Chef Ojie is an architect by trade so he knows to meld function and beauty while emphasizing the importance of using local resources, which he also does in his cooking.

Some of the recipes he loves include Lentils a la Mongo (prepared the same way as mongo, using lentils as a healthy mongo replacement), Lentils or yellow split peas empanaditas, and Lentils and Pesto Macaroni Soup.

Because of their high nutrient content, peas and lentils are recommended for everyone. They are the smart alternatives for a healthy and robust lifestyle. This is one of the best health advices: eat your peas, love your lentils!

Easycook peas, lentils, and beans are distributed in the Philippines by Ideal Macaroni and Spaghetti Factory Inc. For more information, please go to their website http://www.idealmacaroni.com

And here are our photos at the event:

Start and end the day with youthful skin

I am not fond of applying creams at night before going to sleep because I'm so lazy doing it. I’m okay with using bath soap when washing my face before going to bed. I am also visiting my dermatologist regularly so I don't think I won't be needing any night cream at all. I think there is no harm in trying.... I was given a chance to try out a new night cream - IVI PREMIUM COLLAGEN ANTI-AGING NIGHT CREAM.
Honestly I was not able to use it right ahead, it was a week after I got it before I started to religiously using it.
